Career in Paramedics

Introduction
                  A Paramedic is a professional who is trained to be an aide to licensed medical personnel. More commonly however, paramedics are those who are trained to respond to medical emergencies out in the field for the purpose of stabilizing the victim's condition so she/he can be transported to medical facilities. In other words it is a practice in the field of medical science that deals with pre hospital emergency services. The major areas of work in the field of paramedical science are spinal injury management, fracture management, obstetrics, management of burns and assessment and evaluation of general incident scene. A person working in the field of Para-medicine should be well acquainted with the medical equipment maintenance procedures, radio operating procedures as well as emergency vehicle operation. 

Eligibility -    10+2 level with science stream from a recognized Board.
There are several paramedic courses-
  • X-Ray Technology and Radiology Involves the use of X-rays, high frequency sound waves etc. to scan the body's entrails.
  • Medical Laboratory Technology is concerned with the collection, sampling, testing, reporting and documentation of laboratory investigations.
  • Physiotherapy covers the use of exercises, related equipment, electrotherapy, magneto therapy, massage etc. to rebuild damaged muscles, ligaments & bones.
  • Occupational Therapy trains in the rehabilitation of physically and mentally impaired persons. 
  • Optometry of Opthalmic Technology specialises in the treatment of disorders related to the eye.
  • Prosthetic or Orthotic Engineering involves the replacement of missing parts of the body with artificial structures.
  • Audiology and Speeth Therapy is concerned with correcting speech defects.
  • Clinical Child Development is concerned with nutrition and treatment of growth defects in children.
