CAREER AS A COMPANY SECRETARY
INTRODUCTION
A C.S. is an expert in company law, corporate and securities law. He is a vital link between the company and its board of directors, shareholders and government and regulatory authorities. All companies with a paid up share capital of Rs. 5 crore or more are compulsorily required to appoint a whole time company secretary . All companies seeking listing on stock exchange are required to appoint a whole time company secretary. Membership of the institute is recognized for appointment to superior posts and services under central government. He can also work as an independent professional. After qualifying the CS professional programme and on completion of training as provided under the regulations, a candidate is enrolled as an associate member of the institute and can use the descriptive title ACS after his or her name. He can also prefix CS with their names.
ELEGIBILITY CRITERIA :
A person who is a member the institute is eligible for the admission to the course. Registration for the course will be valid for a period of five years during which period the candidate is required to complete both the parts. A candidate should however register at the least six calendar months prior to the month in which commences in December, candidates registered upto and including may of that calendar year shall be eligible. Rs.12500/- is the course fees and registration fees which is payable at the time of registration. Registration is open through out the year.
ELIGIBILITY FOR C.S. FOUNDATION PROGRAMME
Senior secondary examination pass candidates in Arts, science and commerce streams are eligible for admission. The duration of course is 8 months. Fees payable at the time of admission is Rs.3600/-. Class 12 student can also get provisional admission. The cut off dates are 31st March and 30th September. Admission is valid for three years.

ELIGIBILITY FOR C.S. EXECUTIVE PROGRAMME-
The student should have passed C.S. foundation programme. Arts , science, commerce graduates except fine arts are eligible. The age of student must not be below 17 years. A student is exempted from C.S. foundation programme if he has a master’s degree in any disciplines other than fine arts or he passed in final examination of ICWAI or ICAI or other accountancy institution in India .
FEES PAYABLE
1. For CS foundation programme pass student Rs.6500
2. For commerce graduate Rs.7000
3. For non commerce graduate Rs.7750
Study material is provided at the time of registration. The Students must undergo compulsory postal tution. Students must undergo compulsory computer training exempted thereof before witing the CS executive programme examination. Students intending to attend oral tution classes are required to pay additional fees. ICSI provides financial assistance to the needy economically backward students possessing good academic record with a minimum 60% marks.
